4 Unreal Engine videos show us how amazing the future of gaming will look
Epic Games also showed its latest achievement in full bloom at the annual GDC Gaming Developer Conference – The Unreal Engine 5. We show you in 4 videos what gaming could look like from now on.
What was presented? The Gaming Developer Conference, GDC for short, is an annual event in San Francisco where many well-known developers of computer games can meet and present innovations.
Epic Games, known for their Unreal Engine, were also there and appropriately presented their fifth generation of the developer program. The following GDC clips show you how breathtaking gaming can become in the future.
That’s how realistic and stunning is Unreal Engine 5
This is how realistically faces are animated: To show just how radically the latest Unreal Engine can change gaming, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 shows a short snippet of an in-game scene. In this, the protagonist Senua is shown speaking to the camera.
You can see detailed animations of the character’s facial expressions and feelings, as well as facial features such as the dirt that appears on the face from one moment to the next.
Realistic exposure and new possibilities of animation: Lords of the Fallen was also at the start. In their technical showcase, however, the focus was more on realistic exposures and the implementation of suitable immersion.
In addition, thanks to UE5, new mechanics can also be implemented, such as the dimensions of the living and the dead that can be entered in Lords of the Fallen.
Sizes and dimensions can be realized more easily: Infinitesimals, the game from Cubit Studios (via twitter.com), develops a game in which you have to survive as a kind of insect in a huge world. The developers had first worked with UE4, but switching to UE5 made it easier for them to desEsports Extrastheir world.
Worlds can be realized more easily and better, and UE5 also supports the desEsports Extrasof new movement patterns, which means that opponents or movements of the protagonist can be created even more realistically.
Driving has never been so real in games: Last but not least, developers also presented a demo by driving a vehicle through forests. It was presented how realistically the vehicle reacts to its surroundings.
Stones that are run over give feedback and let your axes move. The car wobbles on uneven terrain and simulates a real ride on forest floor. Water being traversed conforms to the tires and creates waves.
Not only in its demos, but also now in Fortnite, Unreal Engine 5 proves how amazing gaming can look when developers work with this program. It remains to be seen which developers will take possession of the tool and what cool and breathtaking ideas will come of it.
