Good things come to those who wait: A Space for the Unbound was announced in 2015 and was supposed to appear in 2022. Now it has finally been released for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PC and is convincing: The adventure does very well in the first reviews. With a metascore of 86, we can talk about one of the first highlights of the still young year and a real insider tip for 2023 with a clear conscience.

That’s what it’s about: A Space for the Unbound is a so-called slice of life adventure and revolves around a teenage couple in rural Indonesia in the 1990s. This means that we experience a lot of everyday situations. For example, we accompany Atma and Raya to school.
But to all the normality is added a story about supernatural powers and even the end of the world. At the same time, of course, we have to prevent this, solve a lot of puzzles and reveal secrets and turn our small town upside down.
The picturesque 2D Esports Extras art adventure also relies on a serious story. A Space for the Unbound not only deals with classic, interpersonal relationship drama, but also with topics such as fears, depression and other psychological problems.

What is praised? the story Above all, the carefully told story knows how to inspire despite the melancholic themes. Otherwise, the fresh setting and the atmospheric, beautiful Esports Extras look are also well received.
This is criticized: Of course you have to like the style and towards the end the action can drag a bit, as is written in the Guardian, for example. The outstanding final more than made up for the sluggish last third.
