the computer scientist sebastian werhausen collected those 6 seconds and, by reverse engineering, managed to recreate the star map of Starfield in an executable file. Something impressive by all accounts.

This means that we are most likely looking at an erroneous version of the Starfield map. Werhausen managed to unveil a series of stars and solar systems that could appear in the Bethesda game.

That scene was used to track all the visible stars and piece together their position in the game. The images included seven named stars, three of which are real star systems (Sol, Alpha Centauri, and Porrima). The actual position of those stars was used to calibrate the reconstruction.”.

Bethesda has confirmed that Starfield will feature 100 stars, and this tool reveals that 75 of them were “visible” in gameplay. Even up to 6 real stars were detected (like Altair, Barnard and Sirius).

Starfield will hit stores in the first half of 2023, still without a confirmed date (initially it was going to come out on November 11 of this year). It will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows, Game Pass and Steam.
