What is the story of the game?
Being a ‘remake’ of the 1992 game, the story of Alone in the Dark It’s the same as that classic. In the 1920s, Emily Hartwood—concerned by the strange disappearance of her uncle Jeremy hers—hires private detective Edward Carnby to investigate what happened to him.
Together they visit Derceto Mansion, the “mental rest” place where Jeremy was being held, to try to find clues to his whereabouts. But what they discover is a supernatural conspiracy related to the legend of “the dark man.”
When you start playing, you can choose between one of the two protagonists. Our decision will influence the dialogues with the characters and the development of the plot. We’ll have to play twice—once with Edward and once with Emily—to get the full story.
This game is written by Mikael Hedberg who we admire for his work on horror games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMAwhich in our opinion has one of the best stories in the genre.
The actors of Alone in the Dark
The biggest surprise that awaited us in the presentation video of the ‘remake’ of Alone in the Dark was to discover that the game will star David Harbor and Jodie Comerwho playing detective Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood respectively.
We know David Harbor very well from his work on the hit Netflix series stranger things and in movies like Black Widow and Violent Night. We will also see him in the next movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thunderbolts.
Jodie Comer rose to popularity with her role as the psycho Villanelle in the excellent series killing eve. We also saw her in the funny Free Guy: Taking Controlin the last duel and making a cameo as Rey’s mother in the disappointing the rise of skywalker.
