When it comes to playing, headphones are probably the most difficult peripherals to choose, both because of their price due to both what we can afford, and the huge number of headphones and brands that we can find on the market. It is possible that this eternal doubt of which one to buy will be cleared up a bit after reading this analysis of the Logitech G Astro A30, the latest model of the high-end Astro under the Logitech brand, which have surprised me quite a bit.
Logitech G Astro A30 review
Before starting to say anything about these high-end headphones, I have to say that various things come in the packaging, such as the charging cable, in case we run out of battery, and a USB type C to 3.5mm jack cable in case we are more wiring. We also get a USB type A adapter that we will introduce into our consoles or PC to connect our Astro A30 wirelessly. And last but not least, a microphone that can be connected and disconnected according to our preferences. (although I have to say that the headphones already have a dedicated internal microphone).
Now yes, and starting with the design, the truth is that it does not vary much from its brothers of the same high-end range. These have the same square shape as other models, but there is a difference: they are more subtle and most importantly, they are also wireless, so they will give us a lot of versatility. In fact, I can tell you that I have taken the helmets everywhere with me; At my house, at the neighbor’s house, in the car, on public transport, on the street taking a walk…
All this during long sessions and most importantly, always on, since I wanted to test the battery of the Astro A30, since Logitech promised us a duration of 27 hours in total, and you know what? It does not fall short and I have personally noticed that the battery lasts longer than it promises. At least, in my case I have not had to load them at any time, so I can assure you that they are beautiful, yes, but they also comply when it comes to giving us durability.
Another aspect that I liked about the headphones is that we can remove the pads if we want to do a little cleaning, since they have magnets that make them stick to the Astro A30, which, by the way, is the same with the cases that bear the symbol of “A30” and the Astro logo, as they are fully customizable.
Hard to find controls
Before talking about the sound, I wanted to explain a little how the controls on these headphones work, since yes, I spent a long time looking for the non-existent wheel to increase and decrease volume. It turns out that these headphones have wanted to be so “unique” that what Logitech has ended up doing is complicating their use, since we have a joystick control At first we might think that it is just a button, since in the headphones it only occurs to us to press the square button on the back of the right earphone.
To increase and decrease volume we must raise or lower the joystick pressing several times as if it were a button in the direction we want (although we can also keep the joystick up and down to increase or decrease the volume). On the other hand, the joystick also has a central button that serves as a remote control for the mobile. If we press once we will pause the video or song that is being played. If we press twice we will skip the song and if we press three times we will go back to the previous song. I wanted to add this small section because if it has been difficult for me to find the controls, I can’t imagine others.
sound is everything
Going on to talk a bit about the sound, I have to say that at first I was disappointed that the headphones do not have the Active Noise Cancellation optionsince this option means that everything around us is not appreciated and that for the price of the headphones, they should have the option.
However, they do not have it and it has not been a bother for me, since using them on the street I realized that they do not need this option, since although it is true that you can still hear a little around you, it is very slight and when you put the music on you stop hearing most of the sound, so we will not hear annoying voices or noises.
I have put all this to the test on the main street of the city where I live, since it is where the most passers-by walk through the city and where I could really find out how soundproof these headphones are, which from what you can read, you can see that they are not it is little. I have tested the sound on the Xbox, PC and my smartphone. Starting with the PC and the Xbox, the truth is that the sound in the games is quite good, since It is a very clean sound that will reach us. In addition to of course not having a delay (although there will always be some delay even if we do not perceive it, since all wireless devices have it).
Even so, Logitech G Astro A30 headset features LIGHTSPEED bluetooth technology, so this latency will be minimal and imperceptible but… Is it really? Well yes and no, since although it is true that in video games and music they are great, I have been able to notice that for videos it seems a bit strange to me, since the “double” voices are heard due to the mono voice coming out of the two headphones, something that is a bit confusing in my opinion. It’s not annoying, but it might take you a while to get used to it.
He has plenty of microphones
As I told you at the beginning of this analysis, The Astro A30 have a dedicated microphone inside, which by the way, is not the seventh wonder of the world but it works and we listen very well. We also have the option of connecting the microphone that comes with a 3.5mm jack connector that it has as standard. Although it is true that the difference is noticeable, there will not be much change between speaking through the microphone that comes standard like the one that includes us to connect itsince we will continue to be listened to in a quite acceptable way.
In my case, I did use the one that comes in the packaging, but as soon as I saw that the change was not excessively noticeable, I decided to remove it and keep it in the box, since it was only going to be a small “annoyance” while using it, so I preferred more comfort and less junk.
Multi-connectivity
That’s how it is, The Astro A30 have the option of being able to connect up to three devices at the same time. For example, we can be connected to our Xbox via USB and connect the headphones to our smartphone at the same time via bluetooth to talk through the Discord application. Although of course, you can always transfer your conversation from Discord to the Xbox, since the option has been available for a while.
Conclusions of the Logitech G Astro A30
The conclusion that I have reached with the intensive use of these headphones is that they are perfect for all players who can afford it, since they have a cost of almost €260 and spending that much on headphones is a significant investment for all those who overthink things. Even so, are the headphones worth their money? The answer is yes, but I have to say that I’m not 100% happy with themsince for some unknown reason, these headphones are not compatible with the Logitech Hub application for PC.
Although it is true that there is a specific mobile application for these headphones, but I have not been able to connect them at any time to the application because it gave me a connection error even though he does recognize them. That said, I don’t know if it’s the app that’s crashing or it’s the Astro A30s. Be that as it may, these headphones are a highly recommended option, although at first they seem expensive, but as soon as you put them to good use, you will see that they are worth what they cost us.
