Animal Crossing: New Horizons starts September today and again offers some new features. We summarize for you everything that awaits you in the new month.
All new fish
The new month starts with a very special species for Pisces. Because only now you can catch salmon and king salmon. In September there will also be sharks for the last time, which can spice up your Sterni account. So we tell you how to recognize them.

All new insects
After the high season in July and August, the insects are quiet again. There are eight new copies, but they aren’t worth much and some of them were already there when the game was launched.

Last insect tournament 2022
Carlson returns to your island in September on the last Saturday of the month to kick off the fourth and final Insect Tournament. For 2021 this will take place on September 26th. If you don’t have all the items from the tournament yet, now is your last chance until June 2022. You can read here how to get all the rewards:
All new sea creatures
After having sea creatures in the game since July, they join the monthly cycle. In September there will therefore also be an ocean dweller that you can catch now. Here you can see how you can catch them and which ones are still available:
Acorn & Cone Season
Probably the biggest and most important innovation is the acorn & cone season. For the next three months you can collect new resources from your trees, which you can then use for seasonal craft projects. You can read how it all works and what to expect here:
New seasonal items
In September there is a European festival. Matching the grape harvest in Germany, USA, Italy and France, there is a barrel with grapes inside that your character can carry. You can find the item in the Nook Shopping app or on the NookPortal in the service center. You can do it there until 30. September purchase for 800 Sternis.
All seasonal items in September at a glance:
- Grape Harvest Festival: Grape harvest basket (September 1st to 30th)

New item from mom
If you go to your mailbox from September 1st, there will be a new letter from Mama. This time she gives you a pillow.
Changes in the game through the fall
But there are also two very fundamental changes that are now in play with autumn. The facade of Nook’s shop has an autumnal decoration with pumpkins and mushrooms. But the little tanuki don’t have a new inventory with them, maybe there will be one later. In addition, the loading screen hides a small change. The island on the right edge of the screen now has a brown bottom.
Nook’s store now looks different from the outside in the fall.
