Annie Wersching, the actress who played Tess in The Last of Us, has died

On Sunday, January 29, while we were excitedly awaiting the arrival of a new episode of the popular HBO series, we heard some tragic news. Annie Wersching, the actress primarily known for originally playing Theresa “Tess” Servopoulos in the game The Last of Us, passed away earlier that same day. She was 45 years old.

As reported by Deadline, Wersching’s cause of death was cancer with which he had been battling since 2020, when he was diagnosed. She is survived by her husband, comedian Stephen Full, and her three children.

In addition to being the voice, face, and motion capture actress of Tess in The Last of UsAnnie Wersching will also be well remembered for her role as Renee Walker in seasons 7 and 8 of 24. We also saw her in the series Bosch, Timeless Y The Rookie. In 2022 we also recognized her as the Borg Queen in season 2 of Star Trek: Picard.

It is a tragedy to lose a person to cancer and especially so young. We will miss her a lot on our screens and we will think a lot about her whenever we play The Last of Us. Game director Neil Druckmann and actors Troy Baker and Merle Dandridge, who worked with her on this title, paid tributes to her on Twitter.
