Assassin's Creed Codename Red and Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe are the new titles linked to…
The announcement of Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe would have been a pleasant surprise if there hadn’t been a leak a few days ago. Be that as it may, AC Hexe has now been officially announced at Ubisoft Forward and presented itself directly with a teaser trailer that invites you to puzzle.
Sexism issues at Ubisoft: The French developer and publisher has been accused of a toxic corporate culture since July 2020. These include far-reaching sexism problems, misogyny and discrimination, which are said to be deeply rooted in the company. Although Ubisoft has already taken action, for example by exchanging management staff and openly commenting on the allegations, many employees within the company feel that these measures are not sufficient.
AC Hexe is dark and mysterious at the unveiling
“Ene Mene Mei, Ubisoft conjures up a new Assassin’s Creed from the egg! Hex Hex!” – And with that we’ve ticked off the Bibi Blocksberg jokes straight to the point: The newly announced Assassin’s Creed game is codenamed Hexe for the time being and promises to be really dark.
Mysterious Logo: In a first teaser trailer we only get to see the logo, but that alone is very interesting. At the beginning of the clip, it hangs, made out of twigs, in the middle of a dark forest in which a fire is also burning. At the end of the teaser, the logo is enhanced with mysterious signs and a demonic symbol, similar to a pentagram. And anyone who knows Assassin’s Creed should sense a mystery here that tells us more about the game. Let’s see how long it takes to solve it.
Here you can watch the teaser with the mysterious logo for yourself:
Assassin’s Creed Witch – The game is extremely mysterious in the trailer
Ubisoft wants to offer us something new: Assassin’s Creed Hexe not only looks unusual due to its still very crude setting, the game itself should also be completely different than we are used to from the series. Marc-Alexis Côté, Executive Producer at Ubisoft, describes Hexe in the Ubisoft Forward Showcase as at least “a very different type of Assassin’s Creed game”.
Witch is part of AC Infinity
Just like Assassin’s Creed Red, Hexe will also be part of the platform, which has so far been known as Project Infinity. Infinity is intended to unite several AC games and act as a kind of hub, thus better linking the community. Red and Hexe will either be exclusively or additionally playable via Infinity.
When exactly, we don’t know yet. Among the currently known games, Hexe is probably the one that is furthest away from a release. Insider Tom Henderson believes Codename Hexe was formerly known as Codename Neo and was supposed to be released in 2025 but was pushed back to 2026. It is currently not possible to say whether there is really anything to it.
What is certain, however, is that Hexe should become a flagship title created by Ubisoft Montreal (AC Valhalla) under the direction of Clint Hocking.
Even more AC on the Ubisoft Forward
In addition to AC Hexe, Ubisoft announced a lot more at the showcase. Among them Assassin’s Creed Red, Assassin’s Creed Jade and Mirage there was a lot to see. In addition, other games that have nothing to do with the game series were shown. We have compiled all this information for you in our Ubisoft Forward overview.
Hexe is a really interesting project. What do you say about the game?
