This is what one of our protagonists in AC: Codename Red could look like.

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red will be the next main branch of the popular series and this time takes us to feudal Japan. Apart from a short teaser, there has been little official information about the next part so far. All the more interesting is a picture that appeared on the Linkedin page of one of the authors and probably shows us one of the protagonists.

So far, the latest offshoot, which still goes by the code name “Red”, has only received a short teaser trailer from Ubisoft. In it you can already see a cloaked assassin character with a katana and a hidden blade.

A new image could now have revealed exactly this character, which was not shared by Ubisoft itself, but appeared on AC: Red author Pierre Boudreau’s Linkedin page. (via Access The Animus)

This appears to be a cropped banner showing a female character with the typical Assassin’s hood. She also holds a katana in her right hand – very similar to the silhouette from the teaser. So it doesn’t seem too far-fetched that they’re the same person.

On the right side you can still see the Red logo, as well as a cut-off character that looks a bit like a Japanese character. It’s not entirely clear whether the author accidentally uploaded the image, but at least as of now, the banner can still be found on his profile.

A few months ago, reliable insider Tom Henderson had already leaked that AC: Red would have two protagonists: namely a female shinobi (who could be seen in the new picture) and a male samurai who is an African refugee. The latter could be an actual historical figure, namely the samurai Yasuke.

When will Assassin’s Creed: Red be released?

There is not yet an official release period for the next offshoot. According to rumors, a release could be expected at least internally in 2024, although whether this turns out to be true or changes remains to be seen.

At least we know that the AC games from Red onwards will no longer appear as cross-gen titles, but will instead be built exclusively for current gen consoles.
