A new sale in the Nintendo Switch eShop is in the starting blocks. Or more…
Square Enix confirms that the title developed by Platinum Games will stop offering service on February 27.
On March 3, 2022, Babylon’s Fall was published on PC, PS4 and PS5, the most recent title of Platinum Games beside Square Enix that did not enjoy very good reviews neither from the specialized press nor from the players. Today, despite assuring for months that the future of the game was not in danger, there is bad news for those who want to give it a try: the true fall of Babylon.
Through a statement published on the official website and shared on the title’s social networks, its managers have announced that the servers will be closed on February 27, 2023while also canceling the large-scale updates that were planned for the coming months on both PC and PlayStation consoles.
It closes on February 27 and cancels its future updates“Season 2 will run until November 29, 2022, as scheduled, and the final season will start with maintenance scheduled for the same day. This final season is the period in which you can earn the ranking rewards of the season 2. As a way of expressing our gratitude to all of our players, we plan to implement as many events and initiatives as we can until the end of the service,” reads the statement.
After the service shutdown arrives, any in-game currency or purchased items will no longer be accessible. Furthermore, due to this announcement, Square Enix has also confirmed that will end the sale of digital and physical versions in stores soon.
Unfortunately, this outcome was expected for the game developed by Platinum Games, since shortly after its launch it registered dramatic lows in players connected to the title. In his analysis of Babylon’s Fall, our colleague Toni Piedrabuena did not recommend the work, considering that, despite the good battles, errs in basic elements of the game as a service and offers a lousy staging of his story.
