Baldur’s Gate 3 confirms version for PS5 and announces its release date

Larian Studios has announced the release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 in the State of Play held on the night of this Thursday, where of course they have revealed that coming out on playstation 5 on August 31, 2023 in addition to PC and Mac (in its day it was also presented for Google Stadia). The creators of the praised Divinity: Original Sin II Deluxe and Collector’s editions have been confirmed.

The trailer with gameplay shown at the Sony event has revealed that there will be a mode split screen cooperative for two players (which amounts to four people in online mode) and that will have compatibility with command in all versions. The footage also introduces one of the antagonists, General Ketheric Thorm, a seemingly invincible necromancer played by JK Simmons (whiplash, spider-man).

“Ketheric is a man with complex ambitions and motivations, so when looking for who he would voice, we knew we had to work with a renowned actor who could provide a nuanced characterization; So we decided to cast JK Simmons,” says creative director Swen Vincle in a press release. “While we expected it, we were surprised by the performance of JK Simmons has helped give depth to the character. In the following months we will introduce you to two more antagonists; stay tuned.”

Collector’s Edition: The Deluxe will give access 72 hours before

In addition to the standard edition, Baldur’s Gate 3 It will be available in Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition for PC and PS5. Anyone who has bought or buys the online version early access available on steam watch your game upgrade to the Deluxe Edition. The latter, only in the case of PlayStation 5, includes early access to the Act I from August 28.
