Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox out of date

Now that half of 2023 has passed, other games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield remain to come. Baldur’s Gate 3 will be the protagonist this time, because last week, Larian Studios confirmed that the version of pc would arrive almost 1 month before, the August 3rd. version of PS5 it would be delayed one more week from its original date, launching the September 6, but in return it would reach 60 FPS. On the other hand, we don’t know anything about the Xbox version, except for the fact that it is still in development and needs to be further optimized. The problem with Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox is not because of Series X, but because of Series S and specifically, the split screen mode.

Larian Studios is working to try to make the cooperative mode works at the same level in Series X and S, in order to comply with Microsoft policy. However, they have seen this task as something quite complicated, something that we could already imagine given the great difference in power between the two consoles. Other developers would have abandoned said console in this situation, but Larian Studios is willing to bring it to Xbox, which they don’t know how. According to Swen Vincke, founder and head of Larian, Baldur’s Gate 3 has become over the years a very big and complex game.

Vincke is realistic with the situation and considers that Larian Studios does not have infinite time and resources to dedicate to fixing the Xbox Series S problem. They assure that they have the collaboration of Microsoft, but they work under the stress that the port must go well. He optimization work to be done on Xbox Series S It cannot continue for much longer, since the launch of its other versions is soon. Extending the deadline and increasing the number of changes made to the Xbox version would be somewhat counterproductive.

That is why Vincke and the Larian Studios team hope to have the Xbox version ready shortly after the launch of the PC and PS5 version. That is why its objective is to be able to launch the Xbox port throughout this year 2023. Now we just have to wait to see the result of this optimization process for Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series S and how they will deal with the problems of split screen mode. This mode requires more power and the Series S is not enough of it precisely.

considering the increased requirements for the PC version, we would not be surprised if graphic cuts have to be made. Compared to the early access version of 2020, Baldur’s Gate 3 now asks better processor with more cores, double the storage and a much more powerful GPU. In recommended requirements ask for a GPU with 8 GB of VRAM like the RX 5700 XTso memory may be a limiting factor in Series S. Here you can reduce resolution and texturesto a certain extent, since a decent Xbox Series S port cannot be seen as a great graphical downgrade.
