The hit D&D role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox Series X and S “this year”, Larian Studios boss Swen Vincke has confirmed.

“I’m very happy to confirm that after meeting with Phil Spencer yesterday, we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year, something we’ve been working on for quite some time.”says Vincke in Twitter.
“All improvements will be present, with split-screen co-op on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen co-op, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.”

An Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has never been officially announced, though Larian has made it clear in previous interviews that it is in development. The studio said earlier this year that it hadn’t been able to get split-screen co-op to work at the same level on Xbox Series X and S.

It looks like Microsoft was willing to relax their requirement for equal features between Xbox Series X and S in this particular case, so if Starfield isn’t enough for you, you’ll have another massive RPG to look forward to later this year.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to PS5 on September 6, the same day Starfield comes to Xbox and PC, in fact, so Xbox fans will be able to let their PlayStation mates be the guinea pigs in the port of the game. console. However, since the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 already has pretty well-implemented controller support, there’s probably not much to worry about.
