Larian Studios is aware of the current problem and a patch should follow soon.
With Baldur’s Gate 3, developer Larian has come up with one of the best role-playing games of all time, which will probably be on many top lists this year. If there is anything to criticize about this masterpiece, it is not only the not always optimal camera but also the technical performance of the PS5 version.
It still suffers from various bugs and some shortcomings such as stuttering. And currently the game seems to be crashing completely, at least that’s what some players are reporting.
Classification and temporary solution
Now the game’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) has reported and classified the problem.
“Some PS5 players are experiencing sudden Baldur’s Gate 3 crashes, which appears to be a PSN-related issue.”
Quick fix right there: The developers then provide a tip to get around the problem – at least temporarily:
“We are investigating the issue, but for now you can work around the issue by disconnecting your PS5 from the internet.”

So if Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently crashing regularly for you, try cutting off your internet connection – by unplugging the network cable or turning off the console’s Wi-Fi connection – and see if that makes it better.
Since Larian is aware of the problem, we assume that it won’t be too long before the game is fixed in a new update.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was released on the PC in early August 2023 and for the PS5 on September 6, 2023. The story takes place over 100 years after the events of the predecessors and takes you back to the eponymous city of Baldur’s Gate.
There, illithids launch a major attack on the Forgotten Realms: The so-called mind flayers with tentacled beards can levitate, cast powerful magic spells and transform people with a plague into offspring.
