Baldur’s Gate 3 gets a lot of changes with Update 1.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has had an incredibly successful launch and has been well received by fans and critics alike: In the meantime, it has even blossomed into the most successful game of all time on Open Critic.
But despite a lot of praise, the giant RPG still has some bugs and problems to contend with, especially in Act 3. That’s about to change, at least soon, because the first real patch to the game is going to be huge.
Baldur’s Gate 3 promises numerous changes with patches
So far, Baldur’s Gate 3 has only received a few hotfixes that have fixed some of the most serious issues at launch. A fourth hotfix is also pending, but then we’ll get the first real patch, as Larian boss Swen Vincke announced on X (formerly Twitter).
So the roadmap for the game currently looks like this:
Patch 1 is said to contain “over 1,000 fixes and adjustments” to improve the game. Currently, fans are still reporting some bugs and problems, especially in Act 3, which will hopefully be fixed then. What exactly the changes include and when the patch will appear, we do not yet know.

But the Larian boss also shared an interesting detail about the update afterwards. Patch 2 should then already “contain some wishes”.
This is probably where some of the biggest fan requests come in, including maybe finally adjusting the character’s appearance later in the game. Many fans had missed the feature when it was released. Larian then promised that they would work on something, but did not give any details yet.
PS5 also gets the patches
On the other hand, fans will have to wait until September 6 for the PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 5. But the waiting time has one good thing: Like Director of Publishing Michael Douse has confirmed, the console version will appear directly with all the improvements and fixes that have appeared on PC up to that point – including Patch 1.
Of course, that makes sense, too, after all there is cross-save for Baldur’s Gate 3. If you play on different platforms, the versions must also match.
