Battlefield 2042 will stop receiving updates for Hazard Zone mode

Battlefield 2042 It is made up of three pillars: All-Out Warfare is the mode where you play the usual Conquest and Advance; Portal is an editor that recovers maps, weapons and vehicles from previous installments of the saga; Y Hazard Zone was DICE’s version of popular proposals like Escape from Tarkov Y Hunt: Showdown. The Swedish studio has announced that from now on, this latest mode stop receiving content to focus on the experience Battlefield classic and in Portal. That yes, continue being available.

“Everyone on the team had big ambitions and high hopes for this new experience Battlefield throughout development, but we are the first to admit that it has not found its right place in Battlefield 2042 and that we greatly benefit from allowing our focus and energy is devoted to the ways in which we see you participate more,” they comment on the game’s official blog and in the video below.

“Hazard Zone will continue to be part of the experience, we’re not going to remove it, but beyond address critical errors and strange behavior that may appear in the future, we will not actively develop new experiences or content for this mode”, they announce from DICE, “and you will find that the maps that we release throughout our seasons will not be available in the Hazard Zone“.

Although it did not find a significant audience, Hazard Zone was one of the parts of Battlefield 2042 that we liked the most in its premiere. “[…] a way that maintains the tension at all times, with games that are not long and in which we have something to do at all times,” said Sal González in his analysis of the title available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One.

Changes for Season 1 and beyond

DICE also talks in the post about considerable map changes already available (Keidoscope in August and Renewal in Season 2), the addition of a new one, a revamp of Specialists and their animations, improvements to the gun play and other future content. The Season 1 will premiere sometime in June and include a new map, a new specialist, new weapons, new vehicles, a new battle pass, more weekly missions and more experiences of Battlefield Portal.
