Black Myth: Wukong’s new gameplay scenes put many Unreal Engine 5 fan trailers to shame

Black Myth: Wukong – 8 minutes of new gameplay scenes whet your appetite for the graphic hit

Since the announcement of Black Myth: Wukong, a lot has been written about how great and chic the action-adventure game from Game Science looks. But personally, the look of the game, which runs in Unreal Engine 5, always grabs me – also in the latest gameplay scenes.

Because graphics card manufacturer Nvidia has 8 minutes of new gameplay scenes from Black Myth: Wukong, which for me once again impressively prove how excellent the graphics of the game are. Starting with the unusual enemy design, through the enormously detailed forest areas to the numerous particle effects – just pay attention to what’s floating around in the air – I can hardly stop being amazed here.

A real graphic hit

The scenes come from the PC version of the game and also show ray tracing effects, and DLSS is also switched on, which should make the game appear much smoother again, but may not be transported one hundred percent in the video. Of course, it remains to be seen how much of this graphic quality will also be seen on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but an absolute technology showcase should also await us here when the title is released.

You can watch the complete gameplay video above and I think that the “real” gameplay here makes even elaborately produced fan trailers from other Unreal Engine 5 projects look old.

Tobias Veltin has been an editor at GamePro since 2009. His favorite genres are shooters and racing games, and apart from video games, games are his great passion. He loves soccer and billiards and is constantly expanding his board game collection. Incidentally, it has nothing to do with the beer brand of the same name. Unfortunately.

This is Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong looks amazing - but what do we know about the gameplay?

Black Myth: Wukong looks amazing – but what do we know about the gameplay?

The game’s story is based on one of China’s most famous stories, the novel “Journey to the West”. Here, Monkey King Sam Wukong challenges the Jade Emperor and the Hosts of Heaven. Consequently, the protagonist has to beat up a lot of fantasy creatures – there should be over 100 different enemy types in total – which of course is also reflected in the gameplay.

The battle scenes so far and the impression of the underlying system are mainly reminiscent of the FromSoftware range of games, including Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. In addition to his weapons, Wukong also uses transformations, so he can transform himself into various beings in order to then give the enemies a shit.

There is no concrete release date for Black Myth: Wukong, but the year 2023 is scheduled.

How do you like the gameplay scenes?
