Blizzard explains why Diablo IV doesn’t have local co-op on PC
This weekend, many players are venturing into the dangerous lands of Sanctuary to face all kinds of demons thanks to the open beta of Diablo IVthe highly anticipated fourth installment of this important and influential saga of role-playing, action and dungeon exploration games.
A difficult technical problem to solve
Unfortunately, with the arrival of this test version last weekend, bad news was confirmed for PC users: the title will not have local co-op for two playersa feature that is available on consoles.
Now, Rod Fergusson of Blizzard, has explained in an interview with Eurogamer that this omission is mainly due to a technical problem. To play together with another player on the same screen, it is necessary for both adventurers to use their own Battle.net account simultaneously from the same computer, something that is not so easy to implement on PC.while the current consoles are already prepared to be able to carry out this type of management.
In addition, Fergusson believes that most players who use these types of features do so on console. using a large television, so they have given very little priority to this issue and have ended up ruling out its implementation in the PC version.
fergusson not sure if this is a problem that can be solved somehow in the futuresince he says that he should discuss it with the game’s technical director, but it doesn’t seem that Blizzard has the intention of adding the possibility of playing this promising adventure in local cooperative on a computer, at least in the short and medium term.
