Call of Duty should remain on the PS5 for the time being, Microsoft has already announced that. Even after planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard King and following the deal apparently still in place until 2024. But PlayStation boss Jim Ryan doesn’t think Microsoft’s offer is adequate, on the contrary.
Call of Duty will probably be on the PS5 for years to come
We now know: Apparently there are still existing contracts that have assured Sony that “Call of Duty” will be available for the next three games and thus definitely for the PS5 by 2024 should appear. At least that’s the period Microsoft President Brad Smith brought into play (via: CNN).
But even after that, Microsoft wants to make sure that “Call of Duty” will continue to come to the PS5 for at least “a few years”. It’s planned, the shooters too in Xbox Game Pass to publish, at the same time they should but also for PS5 appear.
Microsoft’s offer for Call of Duty on PS5 is not enough for Sony
Now PlayStation boss Jim Ryan reports to word. He’s not particularly amused that Phil Spencer’s supposedly “private business discussion” has now been made public. Jim Ryan actually didn’t want to say anything about it.
But now he has to make it clear that the offer from Microsoft would only be about “Call of Duty” for another three years to keep on the PlayStation consoles like the PS5. So following the current contract what until 2027 would mean.
“Microsoft has merely offered to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for three years after the current deal between Activision and Sony ends.
After almost 20 years of Call of Duty on the PlayStation, this proposal is inadequate on many levels and does not take into account the impact on our players.
We want to ensure that PlayStation players continue to have the highest quality Call of Duty experience, and Microsoft’s proposal subverts that principle.”
Apparently the PlayStation boss finds that Microsoft’s suggestion not sufficient. It remains to be seen how the whole matter unfolds – and whether Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard King will even materialize.
