CD Projekt Red explains why it restarted development of Project Sirius

There are many Witcher projects in the works right now, but one that has grabbed headlines recently is Project Sirius, a multiplayer game set in the fantasy universe.

CD Project Red announced earlier this month that had restarted work on Project Sirius. Now, thanks to a conference broadcast via YouTube, we know why. According to the video in which CD Projekt Red CFO Piotr Nielubowicz participated, the decision to restart the project was made to reduce costs ahead of time. He explained it this way:

“To remain innovative we must experiment and be courageous in trying new paths, and stay in control and on the right course, especially with a project that is new to us in terms of design, developed by a studio new to our family. We need to keep assessing the situation as we go forward. It’s better to cut costs early – and even start over if necessary – than to move on.”
