Classified: France ’44 is new from Team17 and Absolutely Games
Do you remember that a few days ago we talked about the mysterious message that the team 17 publisher and the Absolutely Games studio had published on the web? Well, now we have cleared up doubts. The studio’s debut is called Classified: France ’44, and it’s a turn-based tactical action game set in World War II.
Classified: France ’44 follows a special operations group called the Jedburghs, who along with various French resistance groups infiltrated behind Nazi lines to support the Allies prior to D-Day.
Classified: France ’44 introduces a number of evolutionary mechanics to the turn-based tactical game genre, including being able to complete missions stealthily, utilizing an exciting morale-based combat and suppression system where every shot counts, and employing an ability Improved Guard that gives you more tactical options in your encounters against enemies.
James Brooksby, CEO, Absolutely Games, said: “Most people are familiar with the general history of World War II, but for our first Absolutely Games title we wanted to focus on the heroics behind enemy lines in the northern France, which are much less well known. The Jedburghs played a critical role in the preparations for D-Day, something we chronicled in the tense and exciting campaEsports Extrasof Classified: France ’44. We want to tell the true story of their exploits and deliver truly evolutionary gameplay mechanics that fans of turn-based tactical games will love.”
Classified: France ’44 will be released later this year on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, at a date yet to be determined.
