In Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, the zombies return in their own major and redesigned mode.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 finally brings back the Zombies mode that many fans sorely missed in its predecessor. This time, however, there are some innovations: the open world areas will be larger than ever before and the same applies to the zombie hordes we have to deal with.

CoD Modern Warfare 3: First story details for Zombies mode revealed

Cinematic trailer shows old acquaintances: In the first real story trailer for this year’s zombie mode, we see, among others, Soap and Kate Laswell – Task Force 141 is dealing with zombies for the first time. They are supported by Sergei Ravanov from CoD Black Ops: Cold War.

This is what “Operation Deadbolt” is about: The Dark Aether saga from previous Call of Duty: Zombies modes continues. This also means that Victor Zakhaev is celebrating a comeback and is bringing his mercenary group Terminus Outcomes with him. This time we’re dealing with zombies and humans as we try to straighten out the consequences of the events from the trailer.

The villain finds the coveted Aetherium in the basement of a hotel, surrounded by some particularly dead people. There is a fight with the police (an unmistakable sEsports Extrasin CoD of who the bad guys are here!) and Zakhaev then releases the zombie agent: everything is enveloped in a purple mist and disaster begins.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3: This is new in Zombies mode

On the official Call of Duty blog, the story of the trailer is unraveled a little further, but we also find one or two solid statements about the upcoming zombie mode.

Large open world map: It was already said in advance that we would be dealing with the largest map ever in Zombies mode. Now we also know that there will be different regions with increasing difficulty.

Even larger crowds of zombies: According to Activision, Treyarch and Co, this time we will encounter a “larger quantity of undead than ever before” as we grapple with the additional tasks in the game world. So everyone’s hands will be full again.

It’s not just zombies on the move: On these huge maps we encounter not only the undead but also human opponents such as the nasty group of mercenaries who also want to get us. In addition, there are also other player squads roaming around the map, but we obviously can’t fight them – the new Zombies mode is intended to offer pure PvE gameplay.

What do you think of the trailer and what do you think of the announced innovations?
