Company of Heroes 3 Review

Relic Entertainment once again brings us the third installment of the acclaimed real-time strategy franchise, Company of Heroes 3 has been in my hands for a few weeks so in the following paragraphs I will tell you all about my experience.

Company of Heroes 3 is a real-time strategy game developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sega. Set in World War II, the game allows players to command their own army and engage in epic battles in multiple theaters of war, including Europe and North Africa.

One of the most prominent features of Company of Heroes 3 is its realistic and immersive gameplay. The game allows players to experience the challenges and complexities of commanding an army in the midst of war, with a focus on strategic decision-making, resource management, and tactical combat. The game features a wide variety of units, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as destructible environments and dynamic weather conditions that can affect gameplay.

Apart from its engaging gameplay, Company of Heroes 3 also boasts impressive graphics and sound design. The game’s attention to detail in unit design, environments, and sound effects helps create an immersive and authentic WWII experience.

Knowing all the aspects of the game and what we will have ahead of us, now we have to know the specifications of my PC:

Like any franchise, this one evolves over time. Since I played the first Company of Heroes in 2006 until now, 17 years later, one thing is clear to me and that is that the experience is totally different. Its creators with the help of the community have achieved a number of interesting things to highlight that while I was trying them I was falling more and more in love with the game.

The most outstanding improvements, for example, are that we have an excellent new graphics engine that allows us to see the environments with a higher level of detail and even see them as more realistic. The game also has certain climatic effects that are worth noting, in addition to the fact that for the first time I have been able to see how a huge number of soldiers on my screen completely cover the entire map and I do not feel a minimum loss in performance.

Optimization in these games is everything, and Company of Heroes 3 has no fault of its own when it comes to this. No matter how many tasks are taking place on the screen (including the explosions) the game feels very fluid in every way.

Now we have a dynamic campaign

Its creators have chosen that we ourselves can forge our own bell, adding the option of making a decision in the game. This makes the experience of each player different and of course, depending on our decision, history will take its course, but let’s not forget that we are facing a simulation of wars from the past, so some things will not work as agreed and we We will realize that we made the wrong decision.

A large part of these decisions change the course of history, in this case it offers us different ramifications depending on the selection of our response. I personally am very fanatic of war games, so making a decision by pretending to be the brigadier general feels pretty good, realistic in most cases but I must confess that at times I made bad decisions that affected my entire platoon.

In the game we have the option to invade some areas based on our own decision and this plus is extremely good as we have some real time strategy along with the real time decisions. So not only placing soldiers in specific places is the key but also knowing how to use them after saying yes or no to an attack or which area to control first to gain more territory.

The game also features a wide variety of upgraded units, not only do we have classic infantry but also higher level soldiers adapted to the realism of the game. What I mean is that we have better animations and movements making us really feel part of the game without even seeing everything so close.

Speaking of up-close, it’s now possible to see some actions up close without losing performance or experience. Although it is a somewhat complicated movement in some cases you can see how close up and at a good scale you can appreciate all the atmosphere that the game has.

To play now we have new factions that have been strategically added to the game for added fun. British and Italian forces are now present alongside the North African campaEsports Extrasalike. Each of these new classes/factions offer us a totally different way of playing, in addition to the fact that we can experience the bells equally in 1-player game modes.

When starting our menu we will see several interesting options such as the ability to play the local cooperative mode against AI or for example the acclaimed and fun multiplayer from 1v1 to 4v4. It’s fun to see how a team of 4 players organizes itself strategically to compete against real enemies in this mechanic. Unfortunately I couldn’t test this modality further but from how I was able to play the 1v1 mode this leaves a lot to say.

On the other hand, we have custom games where we can choose a number of special options to make the experience even more “different” and varied. We also have an excellent option for those who want to have their team organized in a kind of pre-established loadout that you only have to choose when playing.

Company of Heroes 3 Review GamersRD

One of my main problems with some RTS is the gameplay and although they are all based on the same style, in some cases a tutorial to explain things a bit more is acceptable. Unfortunately, the game introduces you a bit to the raw to know the story and everything else without guiding you a bit on how the whole system works.

Many will believe that knowing the game method is enough to know what each thing does, but sending your infantry to die without knowing that the action icon is for something else is sometimes complicated. Nothing serious since after several trials and errors I was able to understand how it worked, I just think that we should have had something more special and introductory to the game (for new players).

In conclusion

Company of Heroes 3 It is an excellent RTS that makes its entry into the genre again, its new mechanics make us feel like a franchise of so many years has evolved in a very positive way. The new factions and graphics make us feel that we are playing something sublime with excellent stability in terms of performance. Being able to forge our own campaEsports Extraswith decision making is one of the most special additions to the game making it a necessary improvement and above all makes it worthwhile in a great way. Although the introduction for new players is somewhat complex, any other RTS would have given us a small (guided) taste of how we can defend ourselves on the battlefield but nothing compares to being able to discover how things work yourself, at least in this game type. This review was done on PC and the copy of the game is thanks to Sega.
