Curse of the Sea Rats will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC consoles on April 6
The USAdevelopment studio Petoons Studio has announced through a press release that Curse of the Sea Rats, the curious metroidvania starring mice that was financed in just 9 hours after the launch of its Kickstarter campaign, will finally be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Nintendo Switch and computers through Steam next April 6. Its creators have shared a new trailer to celebrate that it is starring some of the final bosses that we will meet:
“Embark on the epic journey of four prisoners of the British Empire, transformed into rats by the notorious pirate witch Flora Burn. In order to regain their human bodies, they will have to fight many dangerous bosses, discover the secrets of the vast Irish coastline, and ultimately,… capture the witch who cursed them,” reads its synopsis. In the title we can control a total of four rats, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. You can delve into the characteristics of each character in this same link.
A classic metroidvania renamed ratoidvania
Curse of the Sea Rats has been defined as a metroidvania that mixes platforming, exploration and fighting across a wide variety of stunning locations along the 18th century Irish coastline. On the other hand, one of its greatest virtues is found in the 2D animation inspired by classic animated films blends seamlessly with detailed 3D environments. In addition, it will have local cooperative play for up to four players and, as you have seen in the attached trailer, multiple tough bosses that will force us to learn their attack patterns in order to be victorious.
