According to the latest business figures, the Polish studio CD project generated significantly less profit in the first quarter of 2021 than was the case the year before.
In the first quarter of 2020, CD Projekt was still able to record a profit of the equivalent of 20.5 million euros. However, according to the latest figures, the profit for the first quarter of 2021 has fallen to 7.2 million euros.
The company itself is trying to appease, stating that sales figures for the first quarter of 2020 were very strong. Among other things, Corona and the Netflix series on The Witcher share.
The one released in 2015 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the studio’s most successful game to date. Released in December 2020 Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt is working on an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077
Among other things, rising expenses are said to be responsible for the weak numbers at CD Projekt. The studio is currently working on one Next-gen version of The Witcher 3. According to the studio, the updated version of the popular game will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. The next-gen version will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
The studio recently did this first and only extension to Cyberpunk 2077 announced. This will be called “Phantom Liberty” and will be set in a new district of Night City.
In the DLC will also be back be a fan favorite of the party: Keanu Reeves confirmed that he will be voicing Johnny Silverhand again in the expansion. Phantom Liberty is scheduled for release in 2023.
CD Projekt released in the meantime no sales numbers to “Cyberpunk 2077” more. Last December it was announced that the cyberpunk role-playing game had sold 13 million copies. In July 2022, there were reports that after the disastrous launch of “Cyberpunk 2077” the studio has lost massively in value on the stock exchange.
In 2020, before the RPG was released, CD Projekt was still good Worth 40 billion Polish zlotys. However, since the release of “Cyberpunk 2077” on December 10, 2020, the company’s course has been dropped to around 10 billion Polish zlotys. This means that CD Projekt is no longer the largest game developer in Poland, because Techland, the developers of Dying Light 2would be worth a good 10.6 billion Polish zlotys.
