After the disastrous start at the end of 2020, it seems Cyberpunk 2077 well at last some successes to book. Especially in the last few weeks, the open world RPG has gone by CD Project Red once again neatly through the ceiling.
Cyberpunk 2077: The former launch debacle
The release of “Cyberpunk 2077” resembled a catastrophe. The game pointed like that technical problems on that it rained criticism and returns. Sony removed the game at that time even temporarily from the PlayStation Store.
However, the CD Project Red development team got behind it. Bugs have been fixed and numerous improvement patches have since appeared. Meanwhile are next new content versions for the Next Gen consoles have also been added.
Recently celebrated the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Premiere at Netflixwhich was certainly just as beneficial to the new wave of success as the temporarily low pricewhich “Cyberpunk 2077” was available.
In addition, it was only recently announced that next year with Phantom Liberty a story DLC is to come and moreover more updates planned are.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 the best seller now?
All of this has resulted in sales skyrocketing. Just a few days ago, “Cyberpunk 2077” cracked 136,000 tracked players on Steam, the record of The Witcher 3: Wild Huntwhich is also from CDPR.
“Cyberpunk 2077” does not yet reach its sales figures of more than 40 million, but with it 20 million games sold within 2 years the chances are not bad that this goal could still be achieved.
After in April 2022 from 18 million copies sold, CD Projekt Red is delighted with the new milestone:
“Over 20 million cyberpunks have roamed the streets of Night City – partying with Jackie and meeting Johnny, driving around with Panam and diving with Judy, hanging out with River and listening to Kerry’s songs.
Thank you and we hope to see you all again in the afterlife!”
Had it not been for the initial difficulties, CDPR would certainly have had different statistics at this point. Given the current numbers, Cyberpunk 2077 apparently rehabilitated. No bad future prospects.
