destiny 2 faces ddos attacks causing disconnections between players

Destiny 2 developer Bungie is struggling to resolve a serious weapon crafting issue that allows players to obtain God-tier weapons. Additionally, the company is being attacked with distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.

Bungie has made the unusual decision to confirm DDoS attacks through a Tweetwith the goal of explaining to the Destiny community that the recent error codes and disconnections are not a result of the studio’s efforts to fix the weapon creation glitch.

“In recent days, we have noticed an increase in error codes and disconnections,” Bungie stated. “Our team has confirmed that these issues are not related to the planned fixes to address the recent weaponization issue, but rather are a consequence of DDoS attacks. “While we do not typically confirm these types of attacks and do not plan to do so in the future for game security reasons, we believe it is important to communicate to our players the additional pressure on our systems due to recent circumstances.”

“We want to thank our players for their patience as our teams work quickly to ensure the integrity of the game and continue to implement future stability improvements.”

Destiny 2’s weapon crafting glitch allows players to combine two weapons to obtain extremely powerful weapons that unbalance the game. Players have taken advantage of this glitch to add exotic abilities to legendary weapons and even fuse two legendary weapons together.
