Don’t expect a lot of big announcements at Gamescom ONL
Gamescom 2023 Opening Gala host and host Geoff Keighley has told us that we will be lowering our expectations during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Instead, we’ll likely see more of the games we already knew, giving us updates on them.
Speaking to VGC, Keighley has stated that Opening Night Live “It’s going to be an exciting show with new footage from many of the upcoming announced games such as Alan Wake 2 and Black Myth Wukong.” This year’s ONL won’t be so much about announcing new projects as it is about giving fans an update on some of the biggest games coming out next year.”
Fans will no doubt have high expectations for this show, as it is the first in-person event since 2019. However, Keighley spoke about how the show can also bring challenges. : “First, there are the logistical challenges for our Los Angeles-based team to produce a large-scale show in Cologne, Germany. Fortunately, Gamescom and the Kolnemesse are great partners,” he said. The other challenge, but also an opportunity, is that this fair is directly related to the partners and the games that will be exhibited at Gamescom. We always try to find ways to create synergies between what happens at the fair and within ONL.”
Are you looking forward to Gamescom Opening Night Live? Stay tuned for news from the fair on August 22.
