E3 2023: Ubisoft also gets off the bus

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is a space dedicated to the video game industry where announcements and trailers are only an added value compared to the relationships between companies and the media. However, the fact that the then largest video game fair does not have renowned studios is cause for concern. Ubisoft is the latest to jump ship from E3 2023.

In February Nintendo confirmed that it will not attend to E3 2023. Since before the last face-to-face edition at E3 2019, Sony has not attended the fair and Microsoft has focused presentations in its theater, right next to the Los Angeles Convention Center. Although Ubisoft carried out a special presentation in Downtown Los Angeles, it did take part with its pavilion at the E3 fair.

Again Ubisoft will hold a separate event in Los Angeles in 2023 during the same week as E3. The company is undergoing various structural changes internally and is preparing launches such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Skull and Bones and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Without Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo or Ubisoft, E3 loses most of its commercial and advertising force. EA has been doing their own event outside of E3 for years now.

After a 2020 where there were no presentations of any kind, E3 2021 had digital conferences and in 2022 again no format. In 2023, ReedPop is licensed by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) to again host an in-person version of E3. With none of the big three manufacturers, distributors and developers in the video game industry, uncertainty grows.

When or what date is E3 2023?

The face-to-face event E3 2023 will take place from Tuesday, June 13 to Friday, June 16, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. As usual, it is a business convention and for the general public, beyond the conferences and trailers. The first two days will be exclusively for business. The third day will include consumers, while the fourth day will be for the public only.
