With the last patch, Elden Ring was updated to version 1.06. The patch came with major balancing overhauls and numerous bug fixes. One bug that has been fixed concerns a Crystal Tear that we can put in our potion mix, which hasn’t been nearly as useful as its description suggests.
Finally also increased physical damage resistance
It’s all about this: The bug fix is about the Opalene Hardened Tear we earn in Caelid by fighting the Stinking Avatar in Caelid. In contrast to its tree avatar counterparts, this contemporary is even meaner, as it can cast scarlet rot. As a reward, there is also the Crystal Tear, the description of which says the following:
The resulting mixture briefly increases all of your damage resistances.
“All Your Damage Resistances” Sounds pretty good, of course, but unfortunately it hasn’t worked at all yet. So if you packed the teardrop in your medicine bottle and were surprised that you didn’t notice any effect at all, it was probably because physical damage was not included until now.
And of course, increasing elemental damage resistance isn’t bad either, especially since elemental damage can be really nasty in the Elden Ring. But in many situations you only or mainly deal with physical damage. The patch notes now read that the damage resistance for this is finally being increased with the tear.
A Reddit post names a value of 10 percent. User OrganizedBonfire also suggests combining the Teardrop with Cooked Crab for a 30 percent physical damage reduction in PvP and 35 percent in PvE.
More on Elden Ring:
In addition to fixes and balancing changes, version 1.06 also contains a useful innovation for co-op and PvP and a new NPC that allows you to complete Varré’s quest without invasions. Also, an unwanted Hard Mode associated with a specific piece of clothing has been eliminated.
Have you used the tear and wondered about it? What is your favorite crystal tear?
