Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree – All information and speculation about the story DLC
The DLC revolves around a still-mysterious character (right), believed to be Miquella.
Finally, on the last day of February, the first Elden Ring story DLC was announced after we had hoped for it at the Game Awards and the action RPG’s one-year anniversary. Shadow of the Erdtree is the name of the expansion. Unfortunately, not much is known about the content at the moment, but here we will keep you up to date on everything you need to know.
FromSoftware has already revealed that
FromSoftware announced the DLC with a tweet on February 28th. There hasn’t been a trailer yet. The development team only posted a picture and revealed:
Rise, tainted ones, and let us tread a new path together. The upcoming expansion for #ELDENRING Shadow of the Earth Tree is currently in development. We hope you’re looking forward to new adventures in the Land Between.

It is not yet known when Shadow of the Erdtree will appear. Since there is no trailer yet and the tweet only read that the DLC is in development, you should not expect the expansion too soon. However, FromSoftware is also very good at surprising us.
New content
As far as the content is concerned, we can only speculate so far. However, usually the DLCs for FromSoftware games were very large and contained new areas, NPCs, bosses, weapons and more. You can read our speculation (looking at previous From DLCs) here:

Our only clue as to what the story will be about is the one image from the tweet. However, it does offer some good pointers.

The essentials in brief: The person in the picture with the flowing blonde hair is likely to be Miquella. Miquella does not appear in the main game herself, but is a very important background character and the brother of the boss Malenia (whom she may have mentioned more than once in your playthrough).
Combining male and female personalities, Miquella is interestingly shown in this image astride a spectral steed, which is likely Stormwind. Since Miquella is in a death-like state in the main game, the DLC could be set in a different time, alternate reality, or a dream.
