Empire of the Ants, a photorealistic strategy game, is coming to PC and consoles in 2024
Microds and developer Tower Five have announced Empire of the Ants, a video game based on the science fiction novel by Bernard Werber with the same name that was published in 1991. It is confirmed for 2024 on PC and consoles that have not been detailed, but its file already appears on the PlayStation Store, which will confirm its release on PlayStation 5 and / or PlayStation 4.
The game promises “immersive adventures” to defend our lands in tactical battles in a small world “of epic proportions.” Include exploration, 3D strategy, combat skills and above all the need to seek allies in the wild to emerge victorious from challenges. “It is part of the exodus from a cursed and lost colony,” says the study. We will be Ant Savior-“savior of ants”-on a mission to lead his “people”, rebuild a home, protect it, make it prosper and conquer new territories in different seasons.
This is not the first time that the novel has been adapted into a video game.. In 2000 Microds itself developed and published a 3D strategy game for PC with an idea very similar to this new version, but logically without the same graphic impact.
A photorealistic world created in Unreal Engine 5
The study promises an intuitive experience for newbies, tutorials with the bases of RTS -strategy in real time- and a difficulty that also suits veterans who wish to discover new mechanics and advanced strategies.
One of the most striking aspects that stand out in his first images is the detail of the environments and creatures. They look for photorealism and interactions with other ants, vegetation and other insects, all thanks to Unreal Engine 5 technology. The maps will change according to the passing of the hours, from day to night, sunrises and sunsets.
