Activision Blizzard survival game canceled after layoffs

In addition to the controversy and labor issues surrounding the thousands of Activision Blizzard layoffs by Microsoft, including Blizzard president Mike Ybarra, the impacts also affect the company's catalog. After the resounding success of Pocket Pair's Palworld, it's clear that survival games are a good bet in the market.

Now, due to these shutdowns, the game of this genre that was planned (still without a name or plot revealed) should no longer be released.

The game appeared on ArtStation profiles last year, but now the project teams will be transferred for others. Also big hits in the genre are “DayZ”, “Sons of the Forest” and “Escape from Tarkov”.

Apart from references made in various online profiles, nothing was announced by the company. By ironies of fate, the only official confirmation about it so far is that the project has been cancelled.

In an internal memo obtained by The Verge, Xbox's Matt Booty emphasized that those working on the canceled survival game will move on to other projects in development at Activision Blizzard.

Microsoft announced the layoff of 1,900 employees from Activision Blizzard and the Xbox division this week. This restructuring represents approximately 8% of Microsoft's gaming division workforce.

Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard took place in October for US$68.7 billion.
