After 34 years on PlayStation, Connie Booth goes to EA

The rumors were correct, and veteran Connie Booth did indeed leave PlayStation after 34 years. In October last year, she signed her departure from the Japanese company and, according to IGN, she is now in a new home: Electronic Arts.

Booth's role will be Group General Manager, Action RPG, with a portfolio that will include EA Motive (Iron Man), Cliffhanger (Black Panther) and BioWare (Dragon Age, Mass Effect). She will report directly to EA's Head of Entertainment, Laura Miele.

“Connie spent more than 30 years helping build Sony Interactive Entertainment's internal studios and is responsible for guiding the development of some of its biggest franchises, including Marvel's Spider-Man 1 & 2, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted , Ratchet and Clank, to name just a few,” said Miele in a note sent to the website.

“She is known for creating an incredible developer-centric culture and supporting creative vision while driving innovation. I've known Connie for many years and have always been impressed by her love and commitment to gaming. She especially cares about game developers. She has an impeccable reputation within the development community and will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our games,” she added.

According to IGN, one of Connie Booth's tasks will be to revitalize BioWare, which hopes that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will reverse its fortunes after Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Today, Booth is a reference in the gaming scene, having worked on the production of big names, such as Spyro the Dragon, Siphon Filter, Ratchet & Clank, SOCOM, Uncharted, Jak and Daxter, inFamous, Resistance, Sly Cooper, The Last of Us, Spider-Man, Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima.

In her 34-year career, she has also stood out in international celebrations. In 2020, the veteran was included in the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame, due to her “integral behavior in helping to produce many beloved SIE titles over the last 25 years”.
