The successful creation of Elden Ring’s lore by George RR Martin, the author of “A Song of Ice and Fire” (Game of Thrones), opened up a sea of possibilities for FromSoftware. According to president Hidetaka Miyazaki, the studio wants to promote other collaborations in upcoming projects.

In an interview with GameSpot, the Japanese director said that FromSoftware “is definitely willing” to work together with other writers. For him, it is not only a benefit for the game itself, but also for the devs who receive a lot of experience through collaboration.

One of the great added values of Elden Ring, George RR Martin’s contribution in terms of lore and mythology, is one of the unique points that other FromSoftware games do not have. When the team was able to start unpacking their story and their mythology, that became a huge turn on for us and was something that, on the development side, we don’t get to experience as often.

Miyazaki has not commented on possible candidates, but many would like to see Brandon Sanderson, author of the Mistborn series, acting in a fantasy project. He would even be involved in a project with Bandai Namco.

Elden Ring creator wanted to make a tactical JRPG

Miyazaki is not yet involved with the new project, but he has commented that he would like to produce a more strategic and completely original JRPG. Know more!
