The North American final of the APEX Legends Global Series was the subject of great controversy this weekend. Two players were hacked on stage, during the decisive match – as reported by DualShockers.

Identified as 'Destroyer2009' and 'R4ndom', the hackers activated bizarre features for the players. First, 'Genburten' was given the simple “ability” of being able to see everyone's cameras. He quickly reported the case and the game was paused.

Shortly after, on the way back, 'ImperialHal' was the target of the moment, with an automatic aiming feature “turning on and off” all the time on his screen. Furthermore, the attackers posted messages on the screen calling the tournament “Apex Hacking Global Series”.

For those who are not very familiar with this scenario, Apex Legends Global Series is a series of competitive tournaments for those who play Apex Legends on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, with a total prize pool of US$5,000,000.

APEX Legends Global Series suspended

The game's official esports account issued an official statement about the case on the X social network: “Due to the competitive integrity of this series being compromised, we have made the decision to postpone these NA Finals at this time. We will share more information soon”.

We can only hope that the game's anti-cheat receives improvements soon, and that the competition returns with more security.
