O MyPlayStation spoke with Charles Benoit, director of the new chapter in the Assassins’ fascinating journey, during Summer Game Fest, and he revealed that there will be some player interactions with objects and moments to give more details about the game’s historical context.

Each scenario has something new to learn even for us in research, and we wanted to bring that to the players. We will bring something similar to Mirage, with interactions with objects and moments, so that the player understands all of this.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set in feudal Japan, beginning in 1579, during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. This era represents the final phase of the Sengoku period, a time marked by intense civil wars in Japan. And that was precisely what enchanted the devs.

When we look at Japan in general, there are a lot of cool moments in history, but we felt it would be interesting to bring up this specific period because of all the political intrigue, something that is quite common in our games. The mystery behind every person and every decision is a fundamental part of our franchise, and the point of unifying Japan was perfect for that.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on November 15th for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
