Balatro, a roguelite poker game launched on the 20th of this month, reached significant numbers for Playstack. In just 8 hours after its debut, the title generated US$1 million for the publisher's coffers, resulting in the most successful game in its history.

The publisher confirmed that the game guaranteed profits after just 1 hour of availability on digital platforms. In a statement, the company commented that this would be a “rare privilege” and the success of the game would have left the entire team “impressed” (via Games Industry).

All publishing partnerships are, to some extent, a leap of faith, and the worrying industry news of the last 12 months has made each leap seem even bigger. Thus, it is a rare privilege to note that Balatro reached the game's profitability 1 hour after launch.

Created by a single developer known as “LocalThunk”, the game is his debut title and was very well received by the community. In addition to accumulating good money, it has an 89-point rating on Metacritic.

Balatro is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC.
