Baldur's Gate 3 players stunned by bug turning Cantrip into leader

A Baldur's Gate 3 glitch entertains players by showing the Mage's Hand cantrip acting as the group leader.

In a game as massive as Baldur's Gate 3, it's no surprise that there are bugs.

Following the recent release of Patch #6, players have reported numerous new issues that appear to have been introduced alongside the update's widely praised fixes.

However, some of these bugs are more amusing than devastating, as one player shared on Reddit.

Baldur's Gate 3 Bug Puts Lae'zel's Mage's Hand Cantrip in Control

Reddit user Nindo_99 shared a screenshot on Reddit. We see that it is possible to trigger a dialogue with the spectral hand created using the Mage's Hand cantrip in Baldur's Gate 3.

As the player explains: “ I tried to grab the Sooty Gem from Yurgir with Laezel's Hand of the Invisible Mage but I wasn't expecting that… “, accompanied by an image of the luminous hand speaking to Yurgir.

How the mage's Hand Spell can communicate remains a mystery, as does entering combat with just a wraith hand.

It is possible that this bug is linked to one of the big changes of Patch 6: prioritizing the player's avatar. Auto-triggered dialogs are intended to use your avatar as the primary conversation partner whenever possible.

However, while the party was likely waiting at a distance for the Mage's Hand to quietly complete the job, it appears that the game got confused and triggered dialogue with the cantrip.

Since developer Larian Studios has already released three patches since Patch 6 to address some of its issues, a solution for this bug could arrive soon. So far, though, the players don't seem too perturbed.

As one Baldur's Gate 3 player said, ” For my part, I bow before our new sovereigns, the mage hands “.
