Battlefront gets involved in controversy with modder

Published

on

After being heavily criticized for server problems, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection was involved in a new controversy. Now, Aspyr Media is being accused of using content from modders without authorization, even though it promises to credit everyone involved.

According to modder “Iamashaymin”, the release of the collection only served to confirm the use of third-party files. This is because since the release of the trailer he had already suspected the use of his modifications — something that the developer revealed to have been a “mistake”.

However, the availability of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection apparently confirmed that the mod was indeed integrated into the game. Thus, the community took to social media to complain about the lack of credit to the creators and a misleading statement from the developer.

Check out the complaints below:

'The release of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection does not include any code or content taken from uncredited sources.' I'm not in the credits, Aspyr Media.

We are saddened to see the abhorrent treatment and blatant exploitation of modders' uncredited work in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. Aspyr assured the community that this would not happen after suspicions were raised before launch.

Despite this, it is clear that community-created content made it into the launch version of the game at full price, without credit or compensation.

Battlefront has a deep and established modding legacy and we won't stand by while it is tarnished by bad actors looking for a quick buck.

The company has not yet commented on the new accusations.

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC.
