Black Desert Online reaches 55 million players

Pearl Abyss revealed that Black Desert Online has reached 55 million players across all platforms and grossed US$2.2 billion since its launch in 2014 in South Korea. The company also announced the arrival of the “Erudite” class for PlayStation and Xbox next Wednesday, March 6th.

Following a 2023 with multiple awards, the launch of the Land of Dawn expansion and many community events around the world, Pearl Abyss will host a 2024 with more authentic content, community celebrations and incentives to play the MMO.

“Our focus in 2024 is to make Black Desert simpler, more accessible, and more engaging for all levels of players,” said Jaehee Kim, Executive Producer of Black Desert. “This eight-year anniversary signals our progress toward this goal and we will continue to strive for more.”

To celebrate, the studio will offer discounts on the base game and DLCs. Black Desert Online will have up to 70% off on the official website (February 28th until March 30th) and on Steam (February 29th until March 31st). Meanwhile, all DLC packs will be at a promotional price of up to 50% for a limited time.

Improved Scholar Class coming to Black Desert Online next week

The Scholar class, the 27th available in Black Desert Console, is a master alchemist in manipulating gravity. Using two Sledgehammers and the Gravitorium, she has fast and powerful attacks. Her power allows her to deceive enemies with unexpected movements and counterattack with strength from March 6th.

Xbox and PlayStation players will benefit from small updates due to feedback from PC players. Erudite's mobility techniques on sloped terrain, such as Gravitorium Insertion-Attraction-Repulsion, Gravity Grab, and A Nice Sledgehammer, have been corrected.

The Black Desert Console team also increased her combat speed by adjusting the animation of some key attacks and expanding her combo options, improving her base movement while increasing the speed of her mobility techniques.

Finally, Pearl Abyss improved the Flow: Golden Thunder control technique to increase the attack area based on the height of the fall. Adventurers who use the terrain to their advantage will be able to bring the thunder against their opponents.

Black Desert Online is available for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game can be played on the new generation of consoles via backwards compatibility.
