Black Ops 6’s “aggressive” advertising in menus tires players

A new Call of Duty game means a ton of promotion before launch, and Black Ops 6 is no exception. However, CoD players are fed up with BO6’s “aggressive” advertising in the game’s menus.

Excitement surrounding the release of Black Ops 6 on October 25 continues to grow, with players enjoying an intense and cryptic marketing campaign culminating in a reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9.

However, with the reveal of the next Call of Duty title, pre-orders were launched, leading to an invasion of ads for BO6 in the Call of Duty HQ, which did not sit well with many players, as the app all -in-one is already hated by many due to its complex menus.

In a post on Reddit, user ‘Character-Acrobatic’ expressed his frustration, noting that every time he enters the “game he paid $70 for“, he must “scroll through advertisements” for a game that comes out in 4 months. Although he notes that this “has been going on for years“, he estimates that “it gets worse“.

Another user, agreeing with this opinion, added: “The fact that they put this above the section for getting into the game is really annoying.

Some users wanted to distinguish between MW3 players and Warzone players (which is a free-to-play game), but they agreed that no player should tolerate the “advertising ABOVE the section to access the game“.

Additionally, they emphasized that with the release of BO6 in October and not “in a few weeks“, all the developers had to do was add it at the bottom.

However, user ‘CptMeat’ offered a contrasting opinion compared to the author of the original post. Although he recognizes “that Activision is shady for a million other reasons“, he pointed out that this is happening in the CoD hub, which includes all recent titles. In this context, he argued that “It makes perfect sense that the new game would be at the top of the list.

On the same note, user ‘INeedANerf’ noted that the Call of Duty HQ is “just a hub for CoD at this point, so it’s not that unusual for them to show you ads for the next CoD in it.

Despite a ton of content already revealed regarding Black Ops 6’s modes, like the campaign storyline, characters, and more, additional details will be shared during the CoD Next event on August 28, including on the multiplayer, Zombies and probably the next big thing in Warzone.
