Bethesda and EA officially revealed Dragon Age: The Veilguard during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, showing the return of heroes from previous games as well as new characters, while also giving a glimpse of the new protagonist.

The fourth installment of Dragon Age recently changed its name. Fans had long believed that the game would be called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, but the developers recently revealed that it is now called Dragon Age: The Veilguard, suggesting a major change in story direction.

Fans now have an even better idea of what’s in store for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, as the first trailer was shown off during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. The trailer confirmed that the game will launch at fall 2024.

The trailer shows heroes from previous titles, like Harding the Pathfinder and Varric, sporting his iconic crossbow. There were also new characters, including Neve the Detective, Lucanis the Mage Slayer, Bellara the Veil Jumper, Emmrich the Necromancer, Davrin the Shadow Keeper, Taash and the Dragon Slayer.

The trailer also hints that the main character will be a member of “The Veilguard”, just as the protagonists of the first and third games were known for their professions (Shadow Warden and Inquisitor).

It’s still hard to say exactly what the game is about, other than that a group of heroes face a new enemy that threatens the world, and that dragons are involved. The previous title hinted that Solas from Dragon Age: Inquisition was going to play a major role, but the name change may indicate that the story left him out.

The developers have promised that more information will be revealed soon, so it won’t be long before we learn more about The Veilguard. A gameplay premiere will take place on June 11, 2024, where we will finally see Dragon Age: The Veilguard in action.
