Elden Ring creator would like to make a tactical JRPG

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of Elden Ring and other FromSoftware games, revealed that he would like to produce a more tactical JRPG game. In an interview with the Rolling Stone website, the director expressed his desire for a different project, but he defends the creation of something completely original and not involving the properties that belong to the studio.

I don’t think there is a possibility of me making a new King’s Field or Otogi or Enchanted Armas (FromSoftware IPs). Many of these games are directly connected to the directors who invented this style of game.

For those who don’t know, King’s Field was released in 1994 only in Japan and the following titles didn’t have much impact. The same can be said of Optou: Myth of Demons and Enchanted Armas which were created by Kazuhiro Hamatani in 2002 and 2006, respectively.

The games mentioned follow a more strategic and less action-oriented style. Although Miyazaki’s creations have a certain cadence, the director seems to dream of something more thoughtful.

Elden Ring creator takes the opportunity to talk about the RPG’s difficulty

Miyazaki believes that it is not possible to reduce the difficulty of Elden Ring because it would “break the game”, in his words. The director points out that the feeling of reward and overcoming is one of the main points of the experience, which is why it would not be possible to have a difficulty mode for the game.
