Final Fantasy VII Rebirth head praises card minigame

The arrival of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of the most anticipated not only in 2024, but also in recent years. And, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi, it's not just the main story that fans will spend a lot of time having fun with. There are also around 30 very fun minigames in the game, including a card game called Queen's Blood, which is the devs' favorite.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Hamaguchi-san commented that this specific hobby received a lot of attention from much of the team behind the new FF.

“Within our development team, there were several members who were true card game aficionados, so we formed this group where we could discuss the rules and how to develop Queen's Blood. I believe we managed to create something that will be very satisfying for card game fans,” he commented.

Obviously, this type of content is not new to the franchise. Triple Triad from FF8 and FF14, in addition to Tetra Master from FF9, already delivered something similar. However, there is a fundamental difference with this game: it goes beyond the objectives on the table.

“It kind of presents, within Rebirth, something that's not just a card game that someone could get involved with, but there's actually an entire story developed around Queen's Blood, and we can get into the story of how this game of cards emerged, the story and what kind of role he plays in this world of Final Fantasy VII”, he added.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will arrive on PS5 on February 29th.
