With each passing day, the hype for the arrival of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, the sequel to Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (PS2), increases. While the game is not released, producer Jun Furutani brought some details, confirming the presence of characters from the anime Dragon Ball GT and the film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, but possibly as DLCs.
Furutani gave an interview to YouTuber Sofian Le Geek, in a recent livestream (in French). The Internet user “Kami Sama Explorer” translated a summary of the conversation on X and revealed that the dev talked about the cast of fighters. Check out:
Dragon Ball GT characters will be included, possibly in the base character roster or as DLC. The game will also include fusions (Gogeta, Vegetto, Gotenks). Characters from Dragon Ball films will be included, possibly even Gohan Beast (Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero) (it is not specified whether this will be in the base game or DLC).
For now, it is known that the cast of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will have 164 playable characters. The expectation, at least after this interview, is that the number will rise even further over time.
More details on Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero
In the same interview, Furutani raised two points of community interest: local split-screen multiplayer and the release date of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
According to the dev, the local multiplayer mode, absent from the game's pages, will not be present due to Sony and Microsoft's policies. Companies would be making it difficult to introduce the function to supposedly encourage the sale of more consoles on the market. Despite this, Bandai Namco continues in negotiations and is still trying to implement the feature, so requested by fans. Read more about this through this link!
Finally, the premiere date has not yet been confirmed. This is because developers are in no rush to complete the project, all so as not to leave it incomplete. In any case, Furutani understands that the launch could take place at the end of 2024 or even 2025. Find out more here!
