After defeating the Dancing Lion and passing through Castle Ensis in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, a powerful Knight of Caria will face you – and she has a very familiar fighting style and name. Rellana, not to be confused with Rennala, is the younger sister of the defeated Queen of Caria.

However, Rellana followed Messmer the Impaler to the Shadow Realm and remained there, even after the Sundering War, the fall of her lineage and the rest of the Golden Order. Now this warrior princess stands in your way, and since it’s Elden Ring, there’s only one way to make things right.

Summary

Boss fight Rellana from the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Rellana uses both Witchcraft and fire.

Where to find Rellana

Finding Rellana is actually quite simple, since you just need to cross Ensis Castle and reach the last Site of Grace. Rellana is in the last part of this dungeon and you will know that a boss is approaching by the two golden summon signs on the ground before the entrance.

These summon signs will allow you to recruit two worshipers of Miquella to help you in the boss fight. It’s your choice, and each NPC will be a valuable ally and distraction for Rellana. Just be aware that the boss will receive a huge health and power boost for each ally you bring.

If the boss is too difficult, consider bringing only one NPC ally – this is our recommendation, as the extra reinforcements don’t make up for the bonus she receives. Otherwise, only use your Spirit Summons, as Rellana gains no benefit when using them.

How to beat Rellana, Knight of the Twin Moons

Experienced Souls players facing Rellana may be reminded of Knight Artorias from Dark Souls 1 or Pontiff Sulyvahn from Dark Souls 3, as this boss shares some similarities with both of them.

Like Artorias, Rellana is a powerful knight, extremely fast, capable of cutting you down with her blade while covering the arena with area attacks and jumping from one side of the battlefield to the other in the blink of an eye. eye. Like Pontiff Sulyvahn, Rellana wields two swords, each infused with a different Sorcery.

His first sword is a nod to his Carian heritage and is imbued with Witchcraftwhile his other sword burns with the flame of his master, Messmer the Impaler. Therefore, equip yourself against Witchcraft, fire and physical damageas these are its three main forms of attack.

Rellana is also resistant to Sorcery and Fire damage.so if you are a spellcaster who primarily uses these magics, consider switching to lightning attacks, because it is one of its weaknesses. If you are a melee fighter, consider infusing your weapon with lightning to deal more damage.

If you have a build that uses shields, consider bringing Caria’s Retaliation, as this will allow you to repel his Witchcraft spells, giving you an advantage. Only try this if you already plan to use a shield, otherwise it will complicate your strategy.

Boss Rellana from the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Rellana, Knight of the Twin Moons: Phase 1

In the first phase of the fight, Rellana attacks with numerous sweeping combos which, fortunately, are mostly not not infused with magic. If you’re feeling brave, you can try to parry her, but we recommend dodging her attacks, positioning yourself behind her, and striking during the downtime between her attacks.

If she’s ranged, she can summon arcs of Sorcery that are easy to avoid and which you can roll through for a counterattack. However, we advise you to try to stay behind herbecause you will have more opportunities to punish her while she prepares or recovers.

Be very careful when she uses her attack, because as long as these little blue swords are floating above your head, you are in great danger. Dodge until they disappear, then continue your assault. Be patient and resume the fight once the danger has passed.

Once you have Rellana’s health reduced to 50%, she will trigger the second phase of the fight.

Rellana: Phase 2

In phase 2, Rellana will start using Messmer’s Flame against you and use fire attacks. She will also become much more aggressive and infuse her swords with Sorcery and fire. Most of her attacks will now also be spells as Rellana begins to use magical great swords or spinning explosive combos.

At this stage, it becomes more difficult to dodge and parry, so stay alert and know that his attacks now do a lot more AoE damage. This means that moving away from her is not always the safest thing, so we always advise you to try to position yourself behind her. If she turns her attention to an NPC ally or your spirit summons, take advantage of those precious seconds. Remember, she can turn around and change targets in an instant.

This second phase will lead Rellana to use the magic of the Moon against you (after all, she is a princess of Caria). This attack is predictable, but does huge area damage which can cause the death of your remaining NPC allies and spirit summons. Move out of the attack area or through the explosions, then return to her as soon as you are safe, as you can land a few hits on Rellana while she recovers.

Rellana is a tall order even for veteran Souls players and is considerably more difficult than the first DLC boss, but keep a cool head, learn her attacks, and take advantage of the many loopholes in her game.
