MSI Intel cards receive BIOS to support 256 GB

MSI promised support for 256 GB of RAM on its latest motherboards at the end of 2023. In January, AMD models were updated and now the first set of BIOS for Intel models arrives, ensuring support for the large quantity of memory in a variety of mobo options from the manufacturer.

With the update, both Intel and AMD cards support 256 GB on 4 DIMMs or up to 128 GB on 2 DIMMs. Users of Intel models need to download and install the newly released BIOS for the 600 and 700 series. Below is the complete list of models with the update available:

MSI highlights support on AMD cards since January

All AMD motherboard models with socket AM5 have been updated since January to support up to 256GB of RAM, which includes the X670, B650 and A620 chipset. Those who missed the update can also find the latest BIOS on the manufacturer's official website.

While the company has good news for its motherboard users, customers interested in its QD-OLED displays are somewhat unhappy. This is because the manufacturer revealed that not every new model will support future firmware updates – read more here.
