Owner of Sumo Digital will fire 15% of employees

The wave of layoffs in the games industry continues. Sumo Group, owner of Sumo Digital, announced that it will lay off up to 15% of employees in Canada, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Czech Republic and India to restructure operations and reduce costs.

In a statement, the company said: “While Sumo has been able to address many of the recent difficulties faced by the gaming industry, we have not been immune and need to restructure operations to better meet the challenges expected in the coming months.”

For the parent company of Sumo Digital, these movements are essential to maintain the health of the business. The statement continues:

The difficult decision to reduce our costs in a number of ways is a direct consequence of these challenges, and will unfortunately include reducing the number of people the company can support. We are considering all alternatives to limit the impact on our employees, but unfortunately this transformation process will affect up to 15% of our team in Canada, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Czech Republic and India.
