Paranormal Activity, one of the most famous horror film franchises of all time, is going to be turned into a video game. Publisher DreadXP and developer DarkStone, responsible for the acclaimed The Mortuary Assistantscheduled to arrive on consoles this year, are behind the project, which promises to revolutionize the genre.

The game is called Paranormal Activity: Found Footage and will feature an advanced “Haunting System”, which will dynamically alter the types and intensity of scares that players will encounter based on their actions. Its launch is scheduled for 2026.

“We are excited to work with Paramount Game Studios and have the opportunity to bring the world of Paranormal Activity to players everywhere. The films are steeped in rich history and creative scares, and under the creative direction of Brian Clarke, DreadXP's Paranormal Activity video game will honor these core principles and offer horror fans one of our most terrifying games to date.” said Epic Pictures CEO and DreadXP producer Patrick Ewald.

Little has been revealed so far, but of course we can expect something pretty scary, right? Paramount is also part of the partnership. It now remains to wait for more information in the future.

Paranormal Activity Game promises to be really scary

Brian Clarke, co-director and creative director at DreadXP, added: “The success of the Paranormal Activity franchise epitomizes the power and reach of the horror genre. If you thought The Mortuary Assistant was scary, we're taking what we learned during the development of that title and amping it up with a more responsive and terrifying haunting system. It’s going to be intense.”
